Sintra is an Unesco World Heritage site. Its origins trace back to the Moorish era, that here ended back in the year 1147. The Moors left an indelible mark on Sintra, with their architectural prowess evident in the sinuous alleyways and ornate tilework that still grace the town. As the centuries unfolded, Sintra’s allure grew, becoming a favoured destination for Portuguese royalty seeking respite from the summer heat. The splendour of Sintra’s noble residences, this being one, and their meticulous gardens created a harmonious interplay between man and nature.
