The Aldeia do Funcho de Diante (Funcho de Diante Village), is a tiny ancient village located in the Algarve region of southern Portugal, municipality of Silves. The village is believed to have deep roots that date back several centuries. Like many traditional Portuguese villages, Aldeia do Funcho de Diante likely evolved around agriculture, with farming and livestock playing a significant role in the community’s livelihood. Unfortunately, today it lays in ruins, abandoned in 1974, since the Funcho Dam was built.

However, a big lake has emerged at its feet, and the village’s peaceful surroundings, nestled amidst rolling hills and green landscapes, provide a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a tranquil escape in the Algarve region. Its impressive how life can be recreated. As an example, 1 km from it is located the National Center for the Recovery of the Iberian Lynx, once nearly extinct. Obviously, we added some photos about it. Fortunately, the village itself was also found by an Englishman to develop a rural tourism project in its 93.839 sqm.

A written information was issued by the Silves City Hall, and there is also the regulation for the dam. Put together, you can have:

- Living area: 768 m2, in 8 ruins, exempt of the need for a housing license since prior to 1951.
- Rural tourism unit, maintaining the village layout.
- Rebuild, restore and rearrange existing buildings. The maximum height would be 1 floor. Basements are not allowed.
- Restaurant on site.
- Anchorage, with access ramps at water level.
- A place on land for boats and the like, for repairs and maintenance.
- Recreational equipment for leisure, as fishing, swimming, canoeing, etc.
- Parking areas.

Aldeia do Funcho de Diante is 14km & 15m from the A2 junction in São Bartolomeu de Messines, and 30-40m from the beaches of Armação de Pêra, Albufeira or the Silves golf course. The Monchique Thermal Spa and Faro airport are approximately 50m away. Several attached photos prove its beauty.
